My ADAARAN PRESTIGE VADOO Resort Review: What It’s Really Like to Stay in a Maldives Resort

Have you ever wondered what Heaven feels like? Don’t look any further – just book a room at the Adaaran Prestige Vadoo resort ;)

My mom’s birthday was quickly coming up and I had the basic details: she would be surprised with a ticket to the Maldives on a mother-daughter getaway, with a nice mix of local islands and one luxurious resort with an overwater bungalow … But where would I find that bungalow?!

After hours of combing through hotel websites, I finally found the Adaaran Prestige Vadoo – and now I’m here to tell you all about it!

We visited the Adaaran Prestige Vadoo resort for two nights, between September 17 to 19, 2018. Everything that I wrote is 100% my personal opinion, as I booked the hotel with my own money and was not sponsored in any way.

How Much Did I REALLY Spend in the Maldives? Budget Breakdown & Spending Report

“Wow, how much did your trip to the Maldives cost?!”

Although most people are shy to ask questions about money (especially in the travel business), most of my friends and family — and heck, even strangers — couldn’t resist asking me this when I came back from my trip. And I can’t blame them, it’s a juicy question!

The Maldives has a stereotype of being an ultra-luxurious and expensive destination, but I found the opposite to be true while I was there. If you know where to go and how to properly plan your trip, you can travel to the Maldives on a budget. In fact, this post might even be able to show you how to visit the Maldives on a budget, including an overwater bungalow, without breaking the bank.

Seeing as how I love reading budget breakdown posts, I decided to venture out and write my very own! I’ve broken down each of my expenses by category below and added a few tips, as well as the total cost that I paid. On my first evening in Maafushi, I ran into another Russian-speaking lady from Moscow. After a brief chat, she asked me if I’ve been here before.

Oh, It’s your first time in Maafushi? It’s even better than Male! In fact, I love Maafushi so much that it’s my sixth time here…

Sixth time?! I asked her with a surprised expression.

For many travelers, the Maldives is an elusive destination that has so many stereotypes: it’s a hard to reach country only for the super-rich who can afford to stay in overwater villas – but that’s not true (at all)! There are so many misconceptions about the Maldives, and I want to set them straight.

I created this post about the best Maldives travel tips because there was such a lack of information when I was planning my trip. I wanted to make sure other travelers could feel comfortable before they visit the country.

You might be wondering, Why is there a lack of information? That’s because the Maldives is fairly new to tourism – it opened its doors for tourists in the 1970s by creating villa resorts, and regular guesthouses only became legal 10 years ago! Tourism simply hasn’t caught up to the level of other major island destinations, like Bali or the Dominican Republic, which means it’s the perfect time to visit.
