MOSTAR TRAVEL TIPS
📍Don’t worry about the distance — if you’re like me, you’ll typically open Booking.com and scroll through looking for a place that looks central-ish. But wait!
If you see something like “0.8 km from center” and think that’s too far, then don’t worry, it’s closer to the Old Town than you think.
Most booking sites (like Hotels and Booking) put the center of Mostar as the area near the Spanish Square. If you want to be in the heart of Mostar, then look for places near the Old Town. In the map below, you can see the Old Town follows the Neretva River and is found between Mostarskog bataljona street and Stari Pazar street (so, between the city’s two biggest bridges). :)
📍Everything is a short walk away — If you’re arriving by bus or train (they’re both in same building), you can walk to the center. It’s a pleasant 15-minute walk — just follow Marsala Tita road.
📍Apartments are more popular — Since the Balkans are still an up-and-coming tourist destination, you’ll have much better luck finding an apartment accommodation instead of a hotel or hostel. However, no worries if you prefer the latter — this guide includes hotels, hostels, apartments, guesthouses, and even UNESCO-listed buildings.
📍 Parking in Mostar — Thanks to Mostar’s popularity, it can be a little hard to find parking, especially in the Old Town. If you’re planning to travel Bosnia and Herzegovina by rental car (great idea, btw!), it’s best to reserve an accommodation with its own parking. To make it easier, I’ve noted which places in this post have parking.
📍If possible, stay overnight — A good majority of people who visit Mostar do so on day trips, cruises, and tour groups, Typically, they arrive between 9 am and noon, and leave by sunset.
If you prefer to avoid crowds, I highly recommend staying overnight in Mostar. If you’re an early bird, you’ll have a chance to wake up early and enjoy the city before tour groups come, and you’ll have the city to yourself after they leave!

MOSTAR ACCOMMODATIONS WITH A VIEW OF THE OLD BRIDGE
Yes, its own separate category!
Next to the Old Bridge Apartments
Just like the name says, this apartment is literally a few meters from the Old Bridge — which means you’ll have a million dollar view! :)
Don’t believe me? Besides having a 9+ rating on Booking, one guest wrote, “The Red Bull Diving was happening whilst we visited and I think we had an even better view than the judges.”
Best of all, the apartment is great for families and groups, and it can fit up to three people in the upper apartment and, if you need more space, an additional four guests in the ground floor apartment.
TRAVEL TIP — If this place is reserved, then check out Old Bridge Terrace Apt below (they’re next door neighbors and offer virtually the same view!)

Old Bridge Terrace Apartment
For something a little more classic, Old Bridge Terrace is just the place. It’s located in a traditional Bosnian building and is just 50 meters (165 ft) from the bridge.
However, what really makes this apartment stand out is the cheerful yellow terrace, which offers a 360 degree view of Mostar’s Old Town, the Neretva River, and, of course, the Old Bridge.
The best way to take advantage of this amazing place is to get yourself a delicious borek from the local bakery, make a batch of Bosnian coffee, and enjoy watching the scenery!
